Final Exam 6th, 7th, &8th Grade- Students will be able to use their notes on their final, which will be an accumulative assessment over the knowledge they have gained throughout the quarter. They will also be expected to turn in their portfolios and their daily drawings, which will also factor into their final grade.


Note: 6th & 7th Grade Students will be taking their portfolios home with them on Thursday.

8th Grade Art: Students will do a step by step drawing of a fantasy creature. This is a participation grade. We will then do a quick One Point Perspective Project. Both projects will be due this week and are worth 10 points.

MAY 11th-15th

7th Grade Art: Students will continue working on their Drawings from Observation. They will learn how to really see what they are trying to draw by focusing on shape, line, perspective, value, and shadow. Student will be introduced to charcoal as a medium.

8th Grade Art: Students will continue working on their Skateboard Deck Design. They will be required to draw 3 thumbnail sketches and then pick the design they like the most for their final draft. The designs must be fairly intricate, black and white, fill the entire space, and contain school appropriate material.

7th Grade Art: Students will be introduced to classroom rules, expectations, and procedures before beginning their Street Art Project.

8th Grade Art: Students will begin their drawing unit, we will begin with the first of 3 drawing packets. This packet will focus on value, form, and shape.

March 2nd-5th

7th Grade Art- Students will take notes and play a game reviewing the 7 elements of design. These elements will then be discused and reviewed as we analyze various artworks. This will be review for the final. Students are studying in class and will be able to use their notes.

8th Grade Art-.Students will watch 2 short videos that explain the elements of design and their use as building blocks to any artwork. We will then take notes on the elements and draw 7 quick sketches. This will be a review for the final. Students will be expected to explain how the 7 elements are or are not important to an artwork. Students are studying in class and will be able to use their notes.


February 23th-27th

7th Grade Art- Students will continue their Drawing from Observation Unit. They will be instructed on the importance of shape, line, value, perspective, etc. in order to create realistic drawings. Students will be introduced to charcoal as a medium

8th Grade Art-Students will continue their Clay Unit, creating coffee mugs using the correct steps and techniques.They will glaze their works next quarter and take them home.

February 17th-20th

7th Grade Art- Students will finish their 3D Logo Designs, before beginning their Drawing from Observation Unit. They will be instructed on the importance of value, texture, perspective, etc. in order to create realistic drawing. Students will be introduced to charcoal as a medium.

 

8th Grade Art-.Students will finish their Mirrored Name Designs before we begin our Clay Unit. After being introduced to the medium, students will create a coffee mug, that they will later glaze and take home.

February 9th-13th

7th Grade Art- Students will continue working on their 3D Logo Designs this week. They will use their initials to create a logo that represents their own unique personality. This project has multiple steps including; sketching, model building, paper mache, color mixing, and painting.


 

8th Grade Art-.Students will start their Mirrored Name Designs. They will learn to use graphite paper to transfer an image. After transferring their decorative name design multiple times, the students will end up with a circular, mirrored image.February 2nd-6th

7th Grade Art- Students will finish up their 3D logos. We will also take a final over the elements of design. Student’s will have time to study for the final in class!

8th Grade Art- This week we will study for the final as a class. We will focus on what an art critique is and more specifically on the four steps used to successfully critique a work. These steps are description, analysis, interpretation, and judgement.


December 8th-12th

7th Grade Art- Students will continue working on their 3D logos. They will focus on designing a logo that successfully represents their own unique personality. We will be constructing a model, which we will then paper mache. Finally, students will paint their works of art.


8th Grade Art- Students will finish up their Selfie Self Portrait Project.They will then begin a series of small collages. Students will focus on the use of monochromatic color and use contrast to achieve a point of emphasis in their work.December 1st-5th

Student’s will also watch a short film about the artist Chuck Close, who uses the gridding technique in his own work.
